[..YouTube..] Great Interview!
[..YouTube..] Great video. It’s amazing how one program, no matter how niche it is can change the landscape of computing.
[..YouTube..] very awesome!
[..YouTube..] rarely watch a video and think ‘this guy comes across as a really smart, modest and nice person’. Good video.
[..YouTube..] very nicethis is one of those successful things that start out as a hobby and they turn into something life-changing
[..YouTube..] Terrific interview. Kudos.
[..YouTube..] Kudos. Nice interview… and awkward that a company like Electronic Arts (with Deluxe Paint in their portfolio) turned down Photoshop.
[..YouTube..] I appreciate the fact that you would take the time and effort to get this candid interview with such a MASSIVE person who helped shape the big picture of what we live today.
[..YouTube..] Nice work. Very interesting interview! A nice insight into the making of a program that has changed so much of how we see and work with images, and I’m guessing so much more. Great guy. Smart, humble and inspiring.
[..YouTube..] Change the landscape of computing? Those are big words, care to explain?
[..YouTube..] Nice…seems really down to earth too. Must have been cool walking the halls of ILM with Thomas Knoll and Guy Kawasaki!
[..YouTube..] I waited 20 years to meet Thomas Knoll. I was a Photoshop 1.0 user and always wanted to meet the guys who made it.
[..YouTube..] If you can’t see how Photoshop has changed the landscape of computing you simply don’t have your eyes open.
[..YouTube..] Why do you have the need to be rude or answer a question not directed at you?I’m 47, I use Photoshop since the first version and I own a Photoshop site for over 5 years now that has close to 2 million visitors a year and I also contribute to several magazines and web sites. As for my profession; I work in the IT as system/network administrator since ‘87. Now that you know my background I ask YOU this same question again; how has it changed the landscape of computing?
[..YouTube..] Oh wait, you’re Scobie… that explains your attitude! No forget about it, you’re one of the last persons I would like to talk to… and your reply only confirms it.As for things that changed the computer landscape; transistor, micro chip, computer languages, TCP/IP, GUI, Unix, Apple, Microsoft, IBM, internet…. but Photoshop? It was part of the landscape, but really changing it? No, it just added to the landscape. Know the facts Robby.
[..YouTube..] @Kjxx1 first of all, I said ” It changed the world of graphics and digital photography in a big way.” It most certainly did. It also pushed the state of digital graphics WAY ahead. It was a VERY significant new technology for that industry. Any photographer will tell you just how much it changed the world for them. So will anybody who works on graphic design, or movie effects. It’s also made Adobe a ton of money.
[..YouTube..] He’s from Ann Arbor correct?? ;-D
[..YouTube..] Nice. Photoshop really did change the landscape of photography and visual fx. I suppose the if you consider of the pressures those two industries placed on computer development, then PS did have a big impact on the landscape of computing. I think Adobes lesser known Filmstrip format had the most impact on the visual FX industry. Before the days of after effects, it was the only way to do digital compositing for motion pictures.
[..YouTube..] Thanks photoshop. Web developers are able to pretend they can be web designers too. More bevel and drop shadow please
[..YouTube..] it has absolutely changed the landscape of computing. what do think all those developers and animators use. well without photoshop, it would have been impossible. Best software ever made!
[..YouTube..] He’s from Ann Arbor. Went to Huron High School. Michigan State. Not a stalker just know his family. Went to school with his little brother.
[..YouTube..] The entire family creats. His older brother helped create photoshop. His little brother created a learning center in Michigan that is still doing really well. I’ve known them for most of my life.
[..YouTube..] Two Oscars and another one on the way for Avatar. He’s always a step ahead of the rest. Always has been a down to earth kind of person. His parents are that way. Very nice family. Always willing to help others.
[..YouTube..] He is talking about Stereo-Imagery as if you don’t need the nerdy glasses, fix that and I agree.(Spoken as a person that chooses to use “nerdy” glasses.)
[..YouTube..] John Knoll, please move so I can see the painting and statues behind you.
[..YouTube..] Listening to John talk about the history that I lived through as a kid with early c64s, apple 2es, macs, 286 pcs, etc.. Its just fantastic. Thank you John for taking the time to reminisce. It brings back fond memories of drawing with wico joysticks in 16 colors through today where I’m now a 3d character modeler and character animator by profession. Two Knolls and Adobe changed the world. thanks for that
[..YouTube..] Great video, thanks.
[..YouTube..] knoll bros.. I remember. lens flares plugins, electric image 3d… ahh the good ole days. dont miss the 6 nubus slots
[..YouTube..] What about the two quiescent nerds in the background… are they fans?
[..YouTube..] How weird: I have a version 1.0.8 Beta from 1988, and it ran on OS 6.8…(The 1.44 HD Floppy to prove it!)Are we sure this guy is who he says he is?
[..YouTube..] One of them is Guy Kawasaki.
[..YouTube..] This guy is a fucking genius..
